Honoring Long-time Teacher & Coach Carl J. Roesch Sr.
A new bench near the Sweet Home High School track now stands in memory of longtime coach Carl J. Roesch Sr., whose legacy shaped generations of Sweet Home athletes. In addition to being a teacher, Coach Roesch led Sweet Home Cross-Country from 1961–2000, amassing an incredible 410 wins (the most in New York State history), 16 ECIC and Section VI Championships, and 9 undefeated seasons. He was named WKBW-TV’s Western New York Cross-Country Coach of the Year and guided numerous runners who went on to coach and inspire others.

Recently the Roesch family - including daughter-in-law Amanda, a Sweet Home High School teacher & her husband Craig Roesch met with our track and field athletes and Coach Dunstan to share stories and memories of Coach Roesch's decades of dedication, humility, and love for running.

His impact on Sweet Home athletics continues to be felt today, and this new bench serves as a lasting tribute to the coach who helped build a culture of pride, perseverance, and Panther spirit. 💙🐾 #WeAreSweetHome
